This was a commission piece I did for an electrician who was doing some work on my house. He liked my art and asked me if I would paint a portrait of a cow for him. I was surprised at his request, since I was not aware of the popularity of cow portraits. When I am able to, I like to meet with the clients and see where they will hang the painting to determine the proper proportions for the paining in the space. The space they were going to hang it was the left side of a large wall that also had a flat screen television in the middle. I talked them into a second painting, since the space would have been imbalanced without it. This was the first of the two paintings. I put the cardinal in because of St. Louis and our National League baseball team.
