Fearless Red-Headed Leader
- Description
The St. Charles County Home School Choir commissioned this painting on the retirement of their “Fearless Redheaded Leader,” Christiana Horn. I wanted to capture the breadth and depth of what she meant to that group. I depicted her in four different iconic expressions that resonated with her students. A fifth depiction is of her hands, on the left and right, as she directs the singers. The violin and piano keyboard represent the instruments that she personally played and often accompanied the choir with. The singers represent the countless students that she influenced. I collaged some of the favorite works the choir performed under her direction. Finally, the antique gold cross, that transverses the background, represents that which motivated her to teach and mentor so many in a most excellent way, her faith in Jesus Christ.
